40-річний Сергій Деміч отримав важкі поранення під Авдіївкою Донецької області. У бійця пошкоджені ліва рука та нога. Поранення отримав, коли бойовики обстрілювали базу 53-ї бригади, де служив Сергій.
Сергій із Вільшаної Городищенського району на Черкащині. У зоні АТО служив з грудня минулого року. Поранення отримав 14 липня у Старій Авдіївці. Життя бійцю врятував бронежилет. За руку Сергія борються лікарі Національного інститут хірургії та трансплантології ім. О. Шалімова. Осколками снаряда з руки вирвало шкіру, сухожилля та м'які тканини.
"Ніколи не думав, що буду воювати. У армії служив у льотних військах. Повістка сюрпризом не стала, але думав буду у льотних. А потрапив у 30 мехбригаду (зараз 53 окрема механізована бригада). Того дня був не бій. Нас обстрілювали із САУ 122-х міліметрів "Акація". Це такі мінські домовленості - стріляти не маємо права, а по нас гатять. Біля 21.00 почався обстріл бази. За десять метрів від мене вибухнув снаряд. Били прямою наводкою. Виходить, що хтось здав. Ніхто не очікував такого. Ми готувалися відпочивати, бо зранку о шостій виїзд. Мене врятував бронежилет. Поранена ліва рука і нога. У нозі лікарі лишили один осколок. Кажуть, що він поки не заважає. А як витягати, то треба пів ноги розрізати. Рятують руку. Вирвані сухожилля і вени", - розповідає Gazeta.ua Сергій.
У палаті із Сергієм дружина Анна. Йому не можна ходити поки не відновиться нога.
"Після операції подзвонив Ані. Сказав про поранення. Вона захворіла від переживань. Але я зразу багато не розказував. Дуже радий, що лишився живий. Будемо жити заради дітей. Вони на першому місці", - каже боєць.
"Я з перших днів знала, що Сергій у АТО. Цей рік ми жили від дзвінка до дзвінка. Це дуже важко. Дочок привозила до Сергія, коли тільки він приїхав у Київ. Були з ним три дні. Справжнє свято. Я в цей час дома була, щоб підігнати роботу. Бо ж діти самі за всим доглядають. Нам дуже помагають люди. Не міряю допомогу сумами. Коли люди дзвонять, я почуваю, що ми не одні у світі. Помагають і волонтери. Приносили продукти, перев'язочний матеріал. Доходи у нас мізерні - нема, що приховувати. Самі на лікування і реабілітацію не зберемо", - говорить Анна Деміч.
До війни Сергій працював продавцем-консультантом у магазині, Анна працює техпрацівницею у школі. Подружжя має дочок 9-ти і 18-ти років. Родина живе з городу і домашнього господарства.

40-year-old Serhiy Demich got serious wounds near Avdiyivka in Donetsk oblast. The soldier’s left arm and left leg were injured. He was wounded when militants shelled the base of the 53rd brigade in which Serhiy served.
Serhiy was born in Vilshana village of Horodyshche area in Cherkassy region. By the moment he had been serving in the ATO zone since December, 2014. He got his wounds on the 14th of July, 2015 in Stara Avdiyivka village. The soldier stayed alive owing to the bullet-proof vest. Doctors of Olexandr Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology try hard to save his arm. By means of several shell splinters part of skin, tendons and soft tissues were torn out of the arm.
“I never thought I would be at war. While conscription service I served at the air forces. Call-up papers did not become a surprise for me but I supposed I would go to the air forces. But I was taken to the 30th mechanized brigade (at present the 53rd detached mechanized brigade). On that day that was not a combat. We were shelled by means of 122 millimeter caliber self-propelled artillery missile launch pad “Akatsiya”. That’s how they understand Minsk agreements – we don’t have the right to shoot, and they fire at us. About 9 P.M. they started to fire at our base. A shell exploded 10 meters away from me. They were firing over open sights, so I it looks like somebody gave us away. No one expected such a thing. At the moment we were preparing to go to bed as next day we were to start at 6 in the morning. I was saved owing to my bullet-proof vest. Left arm and left leg were injured. Doctors have left one shell splinter in my leg, for they say it doesn’t disturb me in the meantime, and to pull it out they would need to cut half a leg. They try to save the arm. Tendons and veins were torn out”, - Serhiy tells to reporter of Gazeta.ua.
Serhiy’s wife Anna stays in the hospital room with him. He is not allowed to walk until the leg recovers back to normal. “I phoned Anya after the operation and told her I was injured. She fell ill because of anxiety. But I didn’t tell her much at once. I’m happy for I stayed alive. We need to live for our children, they are the priority”, the soldier says.
“I knew from the very first days that Serhiy was in the ATO zone. We passed this year from start to finish. It is very difficult. I brought our daughters to Serhiy when he came to Kyiv, and they were with him for three days. It was a real holiday. I stayed home at that time to urge at my work, for our children take care of everything by themselves. People help us very much, they don’t measure their help by amounts of money. When people phone us I feel we are not alone in this world. Volunteers help us too. They brought food and bandaging material. Our family earnings are scanty, we have nothing to hide. We cannot collect enough money for medical treatment and rehabilitation by ourselves”, Anna Demich tells.
Before the war Serhiy worked as a shop assistant in a shop, and Anna has a job of a technical worker in a school. The couple has two daughters aged 9 and 18. The family keeps body and soul together using earnings from the vegetable garden and the household.
